Hotel Accountant Vacancy

Department: Accounts Department Job Title: Hotel Accountant Reports To Financial Controller Position Summary: The Hotel Accountant is responsible for ensuring efficient operations of the Hotel in accordance with Bay Gardens Resorts standards. Duties And Responsibilities: Include The roles and responsibilities of this position will comprise of but not be limited to the following list: Calculate and distribute salaries and wages Prepare regular reports and summaries of accounting activities Prepare monthly financial statements Review debtors and payables listings Verify recorded transactions and report irregularities to management Ensure statutory compliance (NIC, PAYE, VAT, TAF, TEF, Corporate tax filings) Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and hotel procedures Preparation of schedules for year-end audit and liaising with auditors Preparation/review of monthly bank reconciliations Review all ledger details – guest ledger, city ledger and deposit ledgers to validate proper payment and posting Ensure correct taxation are applied on all billing software like Property Management Software (PMS), Point of Sale (POS) Forecast cash payments and anticipate challenges arising from limited cash flow Maintain banking relationships and serve as a liaison officer with bankers for merchant services Maintain files of all contracts, insurance policies, tax reports, expenses, payroll Prepare financial reports and submissions to relevant government entities Review and sign off on Purchase orders and internal requisitions Work closely with the Purchasing Officer to ensure proper levels without causing burdens on property cash flows Work with executive and business heads to prepare budgets and track performance by business unit Perform numerical analysis of data and formulate conclusions and / or solutions Provide oversight and support to members of the Accounts team Skills & Requirements: Proficient in the use of accounting software Audit experience is an asset Should be a diligent, ethical, and enthusiastic worker Excellent analytical and organizational skills Must be a dynamic team player who is willing to learn Ability to work to tight deadlines in fast paced environment Qualifications Education: Degree in Accounting or Level 2 ACCA Experience: MUST have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as an accountant/auditor.
